Conservation work of Shalimar Garden in full swing in Kashmir

Shalimar (J&K), Dec 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir government started conservation work of the historical and heritage Shalimar Garden in Kashmir. It is going on jointly with the help of Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd (JSW), a prominent organisation in the country. The entire damaged portion includes centuries-old paper mache work of pavilions, walls, paths, fountains, and water channels, that are restoring with traditional style. Experts are also using lime and different kinds of bricks, instead of normal cement and bricks to maintain the original look of the garden. In collaboration with JSW, the government is also spending crores of rupees on this conservation project which results in local people especially masons, carpenters, and laborers doing work and earning their livelihood properly. Shalimar Garden is one of the heritage of the Kashmir valley. Shalimar Garden attracts lakhs of tourists every year from different parts of the world and they are enjoying the mesmerising beauty of the valley. This is the only garden, which is in the list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
