New Delhi, February 07 (ANI): Speaking exclusively to the ANI, R.K. Jain, Managing Director of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India limited (DFCCIL) said that, “We are currently working on two freight corridors, the Eastern corridor and the Western corridor. These are special railway projects for our country that will prove to be a game changer for the country. We have had a network in which the goods and passenger trains run side by side, which will result in the decrease in speed of freight trains.” “The project was conceptualised keeping in mind the need for an exclusive corridor for freight trains. At present the average speed of goods trains is 25-30 kmph, which will increase to 75 kmph once the construction of the corridor is completed” Jain added. The aim is to create a corridor of 3,000 kms, out of which 1,000 kms track has become operational.
