Gujarati engineer quits IT job, creates farming success story

May 14, 2026

In Gujarat’s Surat district, young engineer Vikas Gamit left his high-paying IT job in Bengaluru in 2019 and returned to his village to pursue natural farming. Concerned about chemical farming and unhealthy food habits, he developed a successful “jungle model” farm where fruits, vegetables and multiple crops grow naturally without chemicals. The model improves soil fertility, reduces farming costs and ensures year-round production with government subsidy support. Along with farming, Vikas also started a dairy unit with Gir cows and produces branded desi ghee for additional income. Today, his annual earnings reportedly exceed ₹10 lakhs, surpassing his previous corporate salary. Honoured as a Young Progressive Farmer, Vikas is inspiring youth towards sustainable, modern and profitable farming.
