“Due to operational reasons”: Indian visa services in Canada suspended amid diplomatic row

New Delhi, September 21 (ANI): With each passing day, the diplomatic row between India and Canada continues to snowball. In the most recent development, India has suspended visa services in Canada till further notice. The website of BLS, which provides visa services in Canada, has cited “operational reasons”. Tensions between India and Canada are at an all-time high after PM Trudeau’s allegation against India. Notably, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau alleged India’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada’s Surrey in June 2023. On Sep 21, Indian nationals, students in Canada and those planning on traveling to the country were advised to exercise caution. Indian students in Canada have been particularly advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant by MEA.
