Durga Puja: Devotees offer prayers on ‘Maha Saptami’ in Kolkata

Kolkata (West Bengal), Oct 05 (ANI): Durga Puja celebrations run parallel with Navratri, a Hindu festival where nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. The festival celebrates Goddess Durga’s triumph over ‘Asura’. Prayers were being offered by devotees on ‘Maha Saptami Puja’ at Padatik Club in West Bengal’s Kolkata on October 05. For Durga Puja celebrations, huge pandals with idols of Goddess Durga are set-up and devotees come in large numbers to offer prayers to the goddess. ‘Maha Ashtami’ is the most important day of Durga Puja festival. The day begins with ‘pushpanjali’ and ‘aarti’ in Durga Puja pandals.
