Farmers’ whole lives, livelihoods feeling threatened: Shashi Tharoor after Centre plans to redraw ESZ in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Apr 14 (ANI): As farmers are protesting against the Central Government’s draft notification issued to declare an Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) in several areas of Kerala, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on April 13 stated that their whole lives and livelihoods, their homes everything is feeling threatened. He also urged Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav to rectify the issue urgently. “Their whole lives and livelihoods, their homes everything is feeling threatened. I have spoken to minister Bhupender Yadav to explain how serious this matter is. This is a mistake and it needs to be rectified urgently,” said Tharoor while speaking to ANI “Today I addressed a gathering of some 1500 very anxious farmers from Amboori and Calicut panchayats in hill areas of Thiruvananthapuram. We have this draft notification coming out which classified them as ecologically sensitive areas when they're not,” he added.
