Fly high! Twin sons of Kashmiri shopkeeper shine in NEET 2020

Baramulla (J&K), Oct 20 (ANI): Twin sons of a Kashmiri shopkeeper in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district made their parents proud by sailing through the coveted National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 with flying colours. The siblings, Gowhar Bashir and Shakir Bashir, hailing from the Batpora village in Kunzar block of Baramulla, scored 657 and 651 points respectively out of the total 720 marks. Relatives thronged the family’s residence on October 19 to congratulate the duo on their success. Gowhar, who scored 657 marks expressed his gratitude to almighty, his parents as well as to his brother for the success.Speaking to ANI, Gowhar said, “My greatest thanks go to my parents. They always pushed us to study hard and our punishments due to carelessness taught us very valuable lessons. Our punishment turned into success.” “They taught us to always give our 100 per cent and do everything in moderation, both games and studies,” he added. Echoing his brother’s similar sentiments, Shakir said, “I secured 651 points when results of NEET got declared on Friday (October 16). I am very much thankful to the almighty for providing me this much of happiness and success. Our parents played a very important role in our success.” “Since childhood, they taught us the importance of hard work. Even though we were from a middle-class family and had financial problems sometimes, they told us to focus on our studies and not bother about the other problems,” he added. The father of the duo, Bashir Ahmad said that he was extremely elated that his two sons had received good scores. He added, “I run a shop in the village from where I hardly earn or barely make around Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000. Me and my wife also do some other kind of work (related to farming, shawl making etc.) to earn money so that we could continue to support our twin sons education. All these work helped us in our earnings. I am elated that my twin sons performed so well in NEET 2020. I am very thankful to the Almighty for writing such good day and happiness in my destiny,” Bashir further stated.
