From Fields to Leadership: Gujarat’s Women Farmers Take Charge
Dec 27, 2025
Saguna Ben from Isarama village in Gujarat’s Anand district turned adversity into opportunity by embracing natural farming. With government training, subsidies, and tools like a shade net and turmeric pulverizer, she shifted from chemical farming and built turmeric as her own brand—achieving self-reliance and emerging as a guide for other village women. In Ghora village, Sudhaba followed a similar path. Supported by government schemes, she adopted natural chilli cultivation, leading to improved techniques, higher yields, reduced costs, and rising income. Through modern farming practices, financial support, and access to technology, the Gujarat government is empowering women farmers to lead from the front—making informed decisions, strengthening rural livelihoods, and driving sustainable agricultural change at the grassroots.
