Balrampur – Ramanujganj (Chhattisgarh), July 17, 2026 (ANI): Lakhpati Didi Dilmati in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur earns Rs 7 or 8 lakh by farming, livestock, and agro-processing activities. She was encouraged by SHG to save regularly and participate in meetings with other women. Through SHG, she took loan from bank and started pig farming. Alongside pig farming, she also cultivates vegetables and sells it in the market. “Before joining the group, my situation was very bad. But once I joined and started saving, attending meetings, a few of us women would get together and share our joys and sorrows. Eventually, a bank loan was sanctioned. I took Rs 1 lakh from that and started pig farming. I bought 10 piglets and raised them for a year; they reproduced, and I sold the offspring. I used the earnings to build a proper shelter for the pigs. I also bought a machine for husking paddy and grinding maize. I continued pig farming and selling the stock, while also cultivating vegetables and selling the produce in the market. All in all, the annual income probably reaches Rs 7 or 8 lakh. I am repaying the group loan using the income generated from these activities,” said Dilmati. “I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to the Lakhpati Didi. By rearing pigs, you have set an excellent example. Generating earnings of Rs 5 to 7 lakh from a loan of just Rs 1 lakh is truly remarkable…I was discussing this with Agriculture Department officials, and we have planned to develop a goat cluster …,” said Chandan Sanjay Tripathi. “My wife is associated with the Bihan scheme. Initially, I didn't think we would earn any income from it. However, after taking a loan of Rs 1 lakh, we started pig farming; we bought piglets and raised them for a year. Each female pig produced litters of 9-10 piglets, and I sold each for Rs 5,000. I have made a profit of at least Rs 7 to 8 lakh, and we are also managing our vegetable farming with these earnings…” said LakhpatiDidi’s husband, Phool Sai Toppo.
