Ganga Utsav to broaden innovative ways towards river rejuvenation: Jal Shakti Minister

New Delhi (Nov. 03, 2021), (ANI): The three-day Ganga Utsav 2021 concluded with positive remarks towards rejuvenation of River Ganga and its tributaries. This fifth edition of Ganga Utsav was celebrated as a 'River Festival' celebrating across the Ganga basin and involving more than 150 districts of the country. The final day of the festival was graced by Union ministers and other personalities. Padma Shree awardee Kathak dancer Shovana Narayan mesmerized the audiences with her incredible Kathak dance performance. An astonishing performance from the men's Kathak group also grabbed the eyeballs of everyone during the event. A book based on Ganga Quest 2021 was also launched along with names of Ganga Quest winners in three categories. Renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshi also shared poems and his experience on writing the Namami Gange's song 'Nahi rukenge swachh karenge'. The event was concluded with the flag off ceremony of the `Meri Ganga Meri Shaan’ campaign by lighting up a `mashal’ along with a performance of Ganga Task Force Band. The National Mission for Clean Ganga has been celebrating Ganga Utsav, the day of declaration of river Ganga as the National River, on November 4 every year. The objective is to evoke public awareness, their participation, engagement and bringing about behavioral change in the people living along the Ganga Basin. By holding such alluring events, the NMCG aims at achieving maximum public participation in its endeavour of cleaning Ganga and its tributaries.
