Gilgit Baltistan: Doctors demonstrate after being denied regularisation, post-graduation admissions
Mar 23, 2021
Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan, 23 March 2021: - A large number of young doctors in the illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan have taken to the streets demanding regularisation of jobs. They say their contractual status has not been upgraded even after almost one year of the ratification of an act ensuring them a better salary and permanent status. They say they are made to work extra hours for inadequate remuneration. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has been in power in Gilgit Baltistan for over four months but instead of making things easy, it has compounded the doctors’ problem by pushing the issue into bureaucratic hassles.
