Feb 16, 2023

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): With the recent Najafgarh Nikki Murder case trembling not only the National Capital, but rose several questions over the girls’ safety in the ‘emerging trend’ of live-in relations. Be it Aftab Murder Case or the Nikki case, in the past few months, India has reported a huge no of such inhuman cases which made the parents question their parenting. National Commission for women (NCW) Chief Rekha Sharma on February 16 foregrounded the reason why girls are “not safe” in live-in relationships. In a conversation with ANI, Rakha said, “NCW has asked for the report as the arrest has been made. Such cases are continuously increasing. Girls are not safe in a live-in relationship. Not only in India, but the live-in relation concept is also growing across the globe. But why girls are not safe in a live-in relationship in India? Girls could not talk to their parents. Girls are also being pressurised by parents to marry a certain someone. Parents are snatching the right of choosing a person from their daughters that’s why they can’t able to share their feelings with them. Society needs to change its mindset.
