Green Guardians of Gujarat: Young Volunteers Build Eco Legacy at Parnera Hill

May 18, 2026

As climate change and rising temperatures continue to impact daily life, a youth-led initiative in Gujarat’s Valsad is setting an inspiring example of environmental conservation. Fifteen members of the ‘Go Green’ group transformed birthday celebrations into tree plantation drives, planting nearly 3,000 saplings on Parnera Hill over five years. Every Sunday, the volunteers carried water and supplies uphill to nurture the plants despite their busy routines. Native trees like banyan, peepal, and arjun have helped improve greenery, support biodiversity, reduce soil erosion, and aid groundwater recharge. Today, Parnera Hill stands as a symbol of collective action and community spirit, highlighting how Gujarat’s youth are contributing meaningfully towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
