Gujarat goes smart: Digital monitoring ensures reliable power supply
Dec 29, 2025
Electricity demand in Gujarat is continuously increasing - both in cities and in rural areas. To manage this growing requirement more effectively, the Gujarat government has launched a new digital platform called Urja Samvardhan. This online monitoring platform collects data related to electricity consumption on a daily and periodic basis. Based on this data, the overall power supply across the state can be better understood and managed. Through this portal, information related to substations, the need for new substations, and feeder bifurcation is available at one place. This helps officials understand the condition of the power network at a glance. Rushikesh Patel, Gujarat’s Minister for Energy & Petrochemicals said “Through this information portal, we are collecting data and, based on it, forecasting electricity consumption. This platform gathers complete data - from power generation to consumption by end users. This data helps in implementing future plans, which is the main objective of this portal.” Data-driven monitoring makes it possible to identify in advance which areas are facing increased pressure on the power network and where additional arrangements may be required in the future. If any substation approaches its capacity limit or operates at a defined threshold, the system gives an alert. This helps in timely future planning. Data-based planning reduces stress on the power network and ensures stable and reliable electricity supply to consumers. Through digital platforms like Urja Samvardhan, the Gujarat government is making the power system stronger, smarter, and future-ready.
