Gujarat on Tuesday launched the 24th edition of Kanya Kelavani and Shala Praveshotsav, the flagship school enrolment campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the three-day drive from BN High School in Vadnagar, the alma mater of PM Modi, and facilitated admissions for students from Balvatika to Class 11. The campaign aims to enrol nearly 28.58 lakh children across 38,400 schools throughout Gujarat. With active participation from public representatives, officials, parents, and local communities, the initiative seeks to promote universal access to education and transform school enrolment into a celebratory mass movement. The Gujarat government also introduced the “School on Wheels” initiative to provide uninterrupted education to children of migrant Agariya families in remote salt pan areas. Inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi in Gandhinagar, the project includes 28 mobile classrooms developed from retired GSRTC buses. Equipped with solar power, smart learning tools, libraries, and basic facilities, these classrooms will bring education directly to children aged 6 to 14 years. Implemented under the Samagra Shiksha programme, the initiative aims to reduce dropouts and ensure continued learning for children affected by seasonal migration.Under the Shala Praveshotsav campaign, eligible children will be enrolled in Balvatika, Class 1, Class 9, and Class 11 based on age and academic progression. More than 465 dignitaries, including ministers and senior officials, will visit schools across the state to facilitate admissions and encourage enrolment as part of the three-day education outreach drive.
