Nov 06, 2026
Diwali is bringing new opportunities for local artisans, women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and small businesses in Gujarat. Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's leadership, the Gujarat Government is promoting Vocal for Local by providing dedicated market spaces at Saras Melas. Women SHGs receive free stalls, food and accommodation, helping them showcase traditional products, expand their customer base and generate income. Artisans are selling handmade diyas, festive decorations and other indigenous products, receiving encouraging customer responses. The government is also promoting Khadi and Polyvastra through a 30% market incentive, benefiting over 16,000 spinners and weavers. The initiative strengthens rural livelihoods, encourages women entrepreneurship and inspires consumers to embrace locally made products, supporting the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
