Gujarat Scheme Supports Ganga Swarupa Women in Starting a New Life

Gujarat’s Ganga Swarupa Punah Lagna Arthik Sahay Scheme supports eligible widowed women who choose to remarry and begin a new chapter in life. Under the scheme, women aged 18 to 50 can apply within six months of remarriage. The Gujarat Government provides ₹50,000 in financial assistance, with ₹25,000 transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer and the remaining ₹25,000 provided through National Savings Certificates. Jalpaben Mistri from Mansa in Gandhinagar district is one such beneficiary. After losing her husband, she remarried with the support of her family and daughter. Today, she works as a teacher and lives peacefully with her family. The initiative aims to provide financial support, dignity and encouragement to women rebuilding their lives after remarriage.
