Gujarat: Surat accelerates green transport shift, 450+ e-buses on track

Jul 25, 2025

Surat (Gujarat), July 25 (ANI): Surat is driving a green mobility revolution with over 450 electric buses on India’s longest 108-km BRTS corridor. Since 2021, these buses have offered clean, safe, and reliable travel. To replace diesel buses entirely, 600 more e-buses are being added under the Central Government’s FAME scheme. The city already has 168 dedicated stations for smooth boarding. The buses feature AC, CCTV, and reserved seating for women. With one bus every 2 minutes, the service is fast and commuter-friendly—especially for women. With smart planning and strong public support, Surat’s BRTS is now a model for clean and modern urban transport—just ahead of the CM’s visit on July 26.
