Jun 07, 2025
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a major urban greening initiative, planting 21 lakh trees citywide with a ₹69 crore budget, taking the total count to four million trees in Ahmedabad. The "Mission Four Million Trees" was inaugurated by CM Bhupendra Patel on World Environment Day by planting vermilion saplings at 'Sindoor Van' in honor of Operation Sindoor. The mission aims to increase green cover, improve air quality, combat urban heat, and boost biodiversity. The AMC is partnering with societies, schools, and NGOs to encourage community participation, especially during the monsoon. With existing oxygen parks and this new push, Ahmedabad is taking a strong stand for environmental sustainability. Gujarat’s leadership in eco-conscious urban planning is being widely appreciated by residents.
