Oct 22, 2026

Gujarat’s Jamnagar is emerging as a global hub for Ayurvedic wellness, education and research. The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) offers specialised therapies, including Panchakarma, alongside advanced academic programmes and scientific studies. International students from countries such as Russia and Japan are exploring traditional Ayurvedic practices and researching treatments like Kshara Sutra. According to the institute’s director, its graduates contribute to the global promotion of Ayurveda across at least 69 countries. Over the past six years, ITRA has treated more than 18 lakh outpatients and 27,000 inpatients. By combining traditional knowledge with research and healthcare services, the institute is strengthening Ayurveda’s international reach while creating opportunities for local medicine production, employment and wellness tourism in Jamnagar.
