“Historic Day…” Jyotiraditya Scindia lauds IndiGo for buying 500 Airbus A320 family aircraft

New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): Speaking to ANI on IndiGo Airline buying 500 A320 family aircraft from Airbus, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia called it a historic day. He informed that in 2013-14 the number of our air fleet stood around 400, it has risen by 75% and now stands at around 700. Furthermore, he said that this shows that there is immense potential in Civil Aviation sector of India. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, "I believe this is a historic day...In 2013-14 the number of our air fleet stood around 400, it has risen by 75% and now stands at around 700. If you look at Air India - combining Air Bus and Boeing - there is an order for 470 aircraft. This is more than the national air fleet in 2013-14. Now IndiGo has placed an order for 500 aircraft, this is more than 25% than our fleet in 2013-14. This shows that there is immense potential in Civil Aviation sector of India..."
