India provides over second tranche of Election assistance to Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jan 29 (ANI): India on Thursday handed over the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal as the country prepares for national polls scheduled for March 5, following the recent Gen-Z protests. According to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the assistance was formally transferred in the presence of Nepal’s Finance Minister, Rameshore Prasad Khanal. India’s Charge d’Affairs, Rakesh Pande, ceremonially handed over more than 250 vehicles at an event held at Nepal’s Ministry of Finance on January 29, 2026.The embassy noted that the supplies form part of the support requested by the Government of Nepal to facilitate logistical preparations for the upcoming elections. The first tranche of India’s election-related support was delivered on January 20, 2026, with additional consignments expected in the coming weeks. Indian officials said the continued assistance reflects the broad-based development partnership between the two neighbours and underscores the deep mutual trust and enduring people-to-people ties shared by India and Nepal.
