Siliguri (WB), May 30 (ANI): With its 45 km railway line project, India is all set to upgrade its security status in the eastern region with the Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project. The railway line project with several tunnels and 13 bridges, will connect West Bengal’s Sivok to Sikkim’s Rangpo. The project which was initiated in 2009, will finally be ready in 2024 December, according to authorities. Not only will it shorten the journey for the people, but will also make the journey much safer than other means in the hill region. The project covering states like Sikkim and West Bengal, the project is being seen as a major aid for Army’s reach to the border areas. The Project Director along with the BJP leader reviewing the area, also briefed on the project.“The project is almost 45 km long and will go through 5 stations. There are total of 14 tunnels and 13 bridges. The work started in 2010 here. NH in hilly areas is prone to landslides. This tunnel will give year-round connectivity,” the Project Director said.“The train will reach Gangtok under GoI’s plan. The project is strategic as far as security is concerned. The region was lacking infrastructure development. But the Modi government did it regardless of hurdles. The project of more than worth Rs 12,000 crore will be ready by 2024 December. This will give a huge benefit to the Indian Army,” the BJP leader said.
