Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 30 (ANI): Indian Navy banned usage of smartphones and social media for personnel at naval bases and warships. It came after 7 naval personnel were caught leaking sensitive information to Pakistani Intelligence after being honey trapped. Speaking on it, defence expert Shivali Deshpande said, “Leaking out sensitive information of the forces is a very big offence and that is why the Indian Navy has banned the use of social media and smartphones for the naval personnel who are on boatships or warships and those who are also working elsewhere. It is a very good step taken by Indian Navy because what happens is that usually young officers have tendency of putting their photographs in uniform and making themselves vulnerable to the enemy and that is why the enemy, whosoever, track these people and then you have honey traps that you have heard of and plus the other ways used by the enemy use. They also seek secret documents. It is a very good step and I feel Army and Air Force strictly warn all their personnel not to use smartphones and social media. ”
