J-K: Women in remote areas of Rajouri get skill training under Centre's UMEED-NRLM scheme

Rajouri (J&K), Jan 30 (ANI): Under the UMEED NRLM (National Rural Livelihood Mission) scheme, a major source for self-employment for empowering poor women in the far-flung areas of the Kashmir Valley, about 2,500 Self Help Groups (SGH) in the Rajouri district are operating where more than 19,000 women members have found means of livelihood.“As part of the UMEED Scheme National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Jammu and Kashmir government employs people in far-flung areas, help them in self-employment to earn a livelihood. We provide them loans up to Rs 20 lakhs. This scheme is for the poor,” Qamran Hanif said while speaking to ANI. “After taking a loan from UMEED, I set up this shop. Today I am earning because of this scheme. It has helped us become self-reliant,” a member of the scheme said.
