Jewellers in Ahmedabad stage protest against new hallmarking rules

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Aug 23(ANI): Jewellers in Ahmedabad of Gujarat shut down their shops on August 23 as a token to strike against process to provide hallmarking unique ID (HUID) for every piece of jewellery.The jewellers are upset that no relief has been offered in writing by Bureau of Indian Standards or Ministry of Corporate Affairs on the Hallmarking Unique ID (HUID) issue.The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) had made gold hallmarking mandatory from mid-June.
