J&K govt initiates efforts to restore 8th-century Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag

Anantnag (J&K), May 04 (ANI): The administration of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to restore the iconic 8th-century Martand Sun Temple situated in Anantnag. The restoration of the temple aims to preserve the cultural and religious heritage of Kashmir. Protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, the Martand Sun Temple is considered to be the oldest Sun Temple. The move is drawing appreciation from locals and tourists. A few months ago, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also visited the Martand Sun Temple and offered prayers. He participated in the ‘Maha Yagya’ organised by Shri Martand Tirath Trust.
