J&K: Tourism Department organises adventure festival to promote tourism in Anantnag

Srinagar, August 05 (ANI): A two-day adventure festival was organised in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir to promote tourism in South Kashmir, especially at Verinag which is a famous tourist destination. The fest was conducted by the district administration Anantnag in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department. Cultural programs featuring beautiful musical performances were held by the artists which were widely appreciated and enjoyed by the audience. During the two-day multi-activity event, participants from various parts of the valley displayed remarkable enthusiasm in engaging in diverse activities such as cycling, mountain biking, ATV rides, trekking, and off-roading. The event was not only aimed to encourage adventure seekers but also advocate Astro-tourism in the region. The stellar performance of popular Kashmiri folk singer Noor Mohammad was a breathtaking one. The audience was enthralled by various performances during the event which drew a large crowd. While talking to ANI, Secretary of Tourism, Dr Syed Aabid Rashid said that the Government will take all necessary steps to further develop and explore Verinag, the tourist destination which will ultimately help in boosting the local economy. He said that this has given us a lot of encouragement and will continue to do so in the future as well as an attractive tourist destination. He added that 300 new offbeat tourist destinations were to be explored and some of them were identified in Kashmir. Meanwhile, local residents of the area welcome this step taken by the Tourism department as these types of events will boost tourism in the area.
