Srinagar (J&K), July 20 (ANI): Kashmir Art Emporium in Srinagar hosted a captivating two-day bone carving exhibition aimed at fostering art and creativity in the region. It was organized under the ‘Know Your Artisan’ initiative by the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom. The exhibition attracted a spirited audience eager to witness the remarkable craftsmanship on display. The innovative approach by Srinagar native, Aziz-ur-Rehman to art by crafting jewellery and decorative pieces from animal bones was the main highlight. He highlighted the abundance of waste bones resulting from widespread meat consumption in the region to create his art. One of the visitors asserted that he hadn’t seen such art before and appreciated the move. Speaking to ANI, one of the locals said, “He has utilised the waste bones. Nothing could be better than this. I have seen such an art form for the first time. The head portion of goats and buffaloes is thrown away by people. He has utilised these to create this art. People can get an idea of what they can do with waste items.”
