Srinagar (J&K), March 22 (ANI): The women in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar are stepping into their power mode as they are trying hands at professions that were for long associated with the men in the Valley. Kashmiri Waza, which also mean a chef, has been a male dominated job for a long time in the Union Territory. However, the women in the Valley this time, have participated as chefs and have installed their stalls in a fair being celebrated under the UMEED scheme. The women are doing it with the aid provided by the government scheme through the J&K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM). Self-help Group Head involved in the fair, expressed her excitement to see a forwarding change in the valley in connection to the gender roles. A customer enjoying the fair, also lauded the initiative and passed her best wishes to the women involved in the fair.
