Kashmiri author’s new launch ‘Chiyer Kayazi Gov’ aims to rekindle love for mother tongue among youth

Srinagar (J&K), August 31, 2025 (ANI): To promote the Kashmiri language among the younger generation, noted writer Gazi Gh. Nabi Kashmiri launched his latest book “Chiyer Kayazi Gov”" Dair kiew Howe" in Srinagar. The launch drew writers, poets, teachers, and students, all committed to preserving and enriching the linguistic heritage of the Valley. The book “Chiyer Kayazi Gov” has been specially written for youngsters, blending storytelling with moral lessons to spark curiosity about Kashmiri reading and writing. Educators present at the event hailed it as a much-needed initiative at a time when global languages dominate classrooms and households, often overshadowing mother tongues. Several speakers highlighted the declining use of Kashmiri in daily conversations among the youth and urged families, schools, and cultural organizations to encourage its active usage. They expressed hope that works like “Chiyer Kayazi Gov” would play a key role in reviving interest in the mother tongue. The author in this book highlights the peace, prosperity, and love between humanity, which is also a lesson for the young generation and youngsters.
