Laxmivas Village in Gujarat’s Morbi Wins National Award for Water Management

The Laxmivas village in Gujarat's Morbi district has won national award for its outstanding water management and drinking water distribution system. Once affected by water scarcity, the village has emerged as a model of sustainable rural water governance under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Honored at the Jal Mahotsav in New Delhi, Laxmivas ensures safe drinking water to all 280 households through a Narmada-based piped network under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Through the joint efforts of WASMO, the Gujarat Government and villagers, Laxmivas has become a national model for sustainable water management, rural development and community participation.
