May 27, 2026
Lobsang Sangay, Former Tibetan Prime Minister-in-Exile, called on democratic “middle powers” such as India, Canada, Singapore, and Vietnam to build stronger value-based alliances to counter China’s growing global influence. Referring to a study by Harvard Belfer Center, Sangay warned that China is expanding its reach through surveillance technology exports and increasing influence across multiple countries. He said democratic nations, along with the United States, must work together to protect democratic values and resist authoritarian expansionism driven by Beijing.
