Manipur CM launches COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme

Imphal (Manipur), Aug 23(ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme to provide assistance to severely affected people during the pandemic in the state. The scheme was introduced during an event in Imphal on August 22. The programme was organized by Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur. According to CM Biren Singh, applications were invited for the scheme through proper survey at the District levels. A total of 22,336 applications were received including 13,651 from street vendors, 4,890 from transport drivers, 3,680 from van drivers and 145 artists. Out of these, 7,943 got verified and first installment of Rs. 2500 would be distributed to 6,276 applicants on August 23. The second installment of the scheme would be disbursed in September this year.
