Manipur Violence: Partial relaxation in curfew in Churachandpur as situation improves

Imphal (Manipur), May 7 (ANI): Violence situations have improved in Churachandpur district of Manipur. The state government took a decision to partially relax the curfew from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on May 7 in the district. People in Churachandpur have stepped out to buy essential goods during the 3 relaxed hours of curfew. The decision to partially relax curfew was taken after the law and order situation improved in the Churachandpur district of Manipur. As per an official notification, talks were held between the Manipur government and various stakeholders after which the said decision was taken. Taking to Twitter Chief Minister N Biren Singh on May 6 said, “Held an all-political party meeting to discuss the current situation in Manipur and to collectively work towards bringing peace and stability in the state. During the meeting, it was resolved to appeal for peace in the state, and encourage all citizens to avoid any actions that could lead to further violence or instability”. “The meeting was attended by representatives from various political parties including Indian National Congress, CPI, JD(U), NPF, Shiv Sena, AITC, BSP, AAP, MPP, AIFB, MNDF, ABHKP and key stakeholders including former CM Shri O Ibobi Singh. It was further resolved to form a peace committee in every assembly constituency to ensure that peace initiatives are implemented at the grassroots level,” the tweet further read.
