Imphal (Manipur), Sep 01 (ANI): In a unique initiative, Manipur’s Churachandpur Traffic Police distributed sweets and toffees to helmet-less bikers instead of fining them. The traffic police offered sweets to people to give them a gentle reminder about their safety. The main aim of police is that people should wear helmet while driving two-wheeler. While speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Churachandpur Amrita Sinha said, “When we started this drive to check on helmet-less riders, people didn’t like it. Then, we came up with an idea of stopping them at a distance.” “Then we made them push their vehicles and offered them some sweets, toffees and gave them a gentle reminder that this is for their own safety that we want them to wear helmets. Once we started doing it, people started co-operating,” Sinha added.
