New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a shop in Chain Wali Gali, Gaffar Market, during the early hours of Friday. The blaze spread to multiple floors, affecting approximately 40 to 45 shops. Around 27 fire tenders and 125 personnel were deployed to bring the fire under control. No casualties were reported. Mukesh Verma, Divisional Officer, Delhi Fire Service, said the firefighting operation was challenging due to narrow lanes and highly flammable goods stored in the shops. He also said the building lacked the required fire protection system. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal visited the spot and assured affected traders of support, saying discussions would be held on possible compensation after the operation was completed.
