New Delhi, Oct 06 (ANI): Amid the cutting of trees in the Aarey forest in Mumbai by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, a student delegation reached Supreme Court on October 6. One of the protestors said that they have reached the Apex Court for the stay order on cutting of trees. “2,100 trees have been cut, government will not stop here, mall and gyms will be constructed there, that is why we are giving this petition to the Chief Justice and we expect that the honorable chief justice will take strict action in this matter,” said Protestor. According to the protestors almost 2,100 trees have been cut in the forest. The Aarey colony has been cordoned off by the Mumbai police after hundreds of green activists tried to stop the cutting of trees. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) Ltd cut several trees on October 4 to make way for a cat shed. MMRC cut the trees hours after the Bombay High Court dismissed four petitions filed by the NGOs and activist challenging the decision.
