Oct 11, 2026

Flash floods triggered by a reported landslide along Nepal’s Budhi Gandaki River have caused widespread destruction in Gorkha district, sweeping away houses and bridges and prompting emergency rescue operations. Initial reports said at least 10 people were missing, although subsequent local updates indicated lower figures as authorities continued assessing the situation. Six people were rescued by helicopter, while Nepal Army and police personnel launched search and rescue operations. Several settlements, including Jagat, Salleri, Dovan and Ghattekhola, reported damage. Authorities have issued warnings for communities along the river to evacuate to safer, higher ground amid fears of further flooding. Alerts also cover downstream areas, including Dhading, Tanahun, Chitwan and Nawalparasi. The full extent of the damage remains unconfirmed.
