Nepal Tragedy: Flood rescuers dig for survivors overnight at Nuwakot’s Trishuli hydropower project

Nepal authorities released video on August 30 showing excavators working overnight to clear debris at the Trishuli hydropower project. According to Reuters, rescuers searched for workers trapped by last week's devastating floods in Nepal's Nuwakot district. At least 933 workers are believed to be trapped at around half a dozen hydropower projects inundated by floodwaters and mud. Rescue teams have been racing to reach survivors amid difficult weather conditions and fears of further flooding hampering operations. Nepal faced deadly flash floods in decades after a glacier collapse triggered a massive landslide in the Himalayas. Nepal's disaster management authority said nearly 800 people have died following the disaster along the Nepal-China border.
