Nepal Tunnel Rescue: Voices Raise Hopes of Finding Trapped People Alive

Nuwakot, Nepal: Rescue operations intensified at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project in Nepal after rescuers reportedly heard voices coming from inside a flooded tunnel, raising fresh hopes that people trapped inside may still be alive. The tunnel was sealed on August 26 after the Bhotekoshi River flooded the project site, cutting off those believed to be inside. Rescue teams have since been working through debris, flooding and difficult conditions to reach them. According to rescuers, voices of multiple people were heard, followed by a response when teams attempted communication. Nepali Army and Armed Police Force personnel are continuing search operations, while technical teams assess possible routes for a safe rescue and evacuation.
