Net direct tax collections grew by 48.4 pc compared to FY 2020-21: CBDT Chairman

New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): JB Mohapatra, Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), informed that the India’s net direct tax collection grew by 48.4 per cent compared to Financial Year 2020-2021. “CBDT's budget estimate was Rs 11.08 lakh crores this year, which was increased in the Revised Estimate (RE) to Rs 12.50 lakh crores. Today, our net collection is Rs 13.63 lakh crores, which is our best collection since 2018-19,” said JB Mohapatra. “Today's Income Tax collection of Rs 13.63 lakh crores is expected to rise further till March 31. Our gross and net collections in the last five years and the history of the Income Tax department is optimal; our gross numbers have crossed Rs 15 lakh, which we could never touch. This net collection is also more by 48.4 per cent as compared to last year,” added CBDT Chairman.
