No more potholes problem in Jammu! JMC to fix them in 24 hours using new AI machine

Jun 12, 2026

Jammu, June 12, 2026 (ANI): Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has introduced a semi-automated pothole patching machine that utilises 'cold mix' technology to fill and permanently repair potholes. “... To identify which roads have pothole issues and to determine which ones require priority attention, we have installed cameras on our garbage collection vehicles. Our AI partners use these cameras to automatically detect potholes. Additionally, the system flags various other issues, such as roadside garbage, ongoing construction work, fallen poles, or lights left on during the day, identifying around twenty-two types of violations. Essentially, the aim is to automate processes, minimise human intervention, and leverage technology to provide better services and amenities to the public... We have currently installed these cameras on 10 vehicles... Our IT team will spearhead this initiative and ensure that the information gathered via these AI tools is utilised effectively... This new method promises a much faster turnaround. This machine isn't suitable for roads that are completely dilapidated... Our team will reach the site within 24 hours to patch up those potholes and restore the road surface permanently... It takes us about 5 to 10 minutes to fill a single pothole. If we receive a grievance regarding, say, half a dozen potholes, we can have them all completely repaired within two hours...,” said JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav.
