North East Badminton Championship kicks off in Tripura, showcasing regional sports talent

Agartala (Tripura), September 4, 2025 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the inaugural ceremony of the Yonex Sunrise North East Zone Inter State and Zonal Badminton Championship 2025, held at HRCCG, Atla, from September 4 to 7. Organized by the Tripura Badminton Association, the event marks a significant milestone for sports in the region. Dignitaries present included the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, MLA Shri Deepak Majumdar, Shri Vishwajit Singh, Padma Shri Olympian Dipa Karmakar, Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, and Shri Ratan Shah. Over 200 players and officials from eight North Eastern states are participating. The championship highlights regional talent and promotes unity through sports. The government has made major strides in infrastructure, including synthetic football fields, athletic tracks, and a swimming pool, with upcoming projects like indoor sports halls and a 200-bed hostel. The event encourages youth development, national exposure, and future excellence in badminton.
