‘Nostalgic Kashmir’ photo exhibition in Srinagar refreshes memories of bygone era

Srinagar, August 23 (ANI): A unique photo exhibition titled “Nostalgic Kashmir” was organised at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir that attracted a good number of visitors. Organised by Showkat Rasheed Wani, along with his son Waseem, the exhibition depicted a rich centuries-old rich cultural past of Kashmir valley which has 5,000 to 7,000 years old history. Hundreds of black and white nostalgic photographs were installed by organisers in a specific gallery. The photographs depicted the environment, life, religion, travel routes, and education from 1850 to the 1950s in Kashmir Valley. The photos also depict various types of lifestyles, marketplaces, heritage buildings, gardens, horse carts (Tonga) and Kashmir art and craft. The event not only highlighted the importance of the past but also aware people, especially the younger generation of the old aged rich past heritage. Images were relieved only in nostalgia while the elders narrated stories and anecdotes. The hard work of photographers and artists, along with the efforts of the father-son duo, helped refresh the memories of the bygone era.
