Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi announces Rs 1,000-crore relief package for six flood-hit districts

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Aug 18, 2026 (ANI): Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi announced a Rs 1,000-crore relief package for six flood-hit districts as heavy rainfall triggered fresh flooding in northern Odisha, affecting over 9 lakh people in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Kendrapara. CM Mohan also said Rs 8,500 per hectare would be provided to small and marginal farmers for crop and horticulture losses in non-irrigated areas, while Rs 17,000 per hectare will be provided for losses in irrigated areas. Assistance for damage to perennial crops has been fixed at Rs 25,000 per hectare.
