Op Sindoor Anniversary: Pakistan’s ‘Power Narrative’ Under Fire
May 06, 2026
Vienna (Austria), May 06 (ANI): On the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Austrian aerial warfare analyst and historian Tom Cooper offered a sharp critique of Pakistan’s internal power structure, arguing that the military continues to dominate civilian governance through a tightly controlled narrative. He said the armed forces justify their outsized influence by projecting themselves as indispensable, even as economic distress and public suffering deepen. Cooper alleged that vast resources are channelled into expanding nuclear capabilities to sustain this narrative of strength, while dissent is curtailed through political pressure and coercion. In such a climate, he noted, political parties are compelled to align with the military’s position, reinforcing what he described as a cycle of control and manufactured legitimacy.
