Nepal PM calls Bhotekoshi Flood a climate warning, urges global responsibility

Kathmandu (Nepal) Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah told Parliament on Wednesday that the catastrophic Bhotekoshi River flood on August 26, which left nearly 4,000 people missing, was a stark warning of rising climate risks in the Himalayan region. Calling for greater international responsibility, Shah said experts attributed the disaster to an avalanche of snow and rock in the high Himalayas, making it one of the region’s largest disasters.
