Paddy procurement from Telangana at MSP increased by 7 times in past 6 years: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, March 24 (ANI): Union Minster for Food & Public Distribution Piyush Goyal on March 24, while talking to media persons about paddy procurement, asserted that procurement from Telangana at Minimum Support Price (MSP) was up by 7 times in past 6 years.“Union government led by Prime Minister Modi is committed to the welfare of farmers and has consistently ensured that all the farmers of the country get the benefit of several policies that we are introducing from time to time,” said Piyush Goyal. The Minister added, “In last few years, procurement of rice at MSP from Telangana has increased significantly from 3,391 crores in 2014-15 to 26,610 crores in 2020-21. In 6 years, it has gone up by 7 times. The same policy that applies to Punjab also applies to Telangana and other states.” Earlier, a delegation of Telangana ministers landed in Delhi to meet Piyush Goyal with a demand to procure 100 per cent paddy from the state.
