Patented handicraft exhibition attracts tourists, locals in Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Oct 26 (ANI): A three-day exhibition and sale of the patented products of the rural producers from the different corners of Himachal Pradesh has drawn the attention of tourists and locals in Shimla. All these products are geographical indicators (GI). Young producers, farmers and artists have joined hands to preserve and promote these GI products in the state. The Exhibition-cum-sale has been organised by Himachal Pradesh State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). Each stall displays at least 7 GI products. These patented products include Kangra Tea, Chamba Rumal, Kullu Shawl, Kala Jeera, Kinnauri Shawl, Kinnaur Chulli Oil (Apricot oil) and Kangra painting. The organizers say that the objective is to introduce the patented products to the people and also to introduce and market the products by providing platform to the rural producers. Starting on October 23, the exhibition concluded on October 25.
